Mindful Month of May

Mindfulness Meditation Sessions

Back by popular demand for the Mindful Month of May, these Mindfulness Meditation sessions will sharpen your focus and teach a valuable stress relief technique to improve your mental health.

Thursday 11 May

Thursday 18 May

Thursday 25 May

Wednesday 31 May

Experience the benefits of mindfulness meditation as Counsellor Laura Kampel from Counselling and Psychological Services once again leads four special classes across the month. It would be ideal if you could attend all four sessions, but if you can only attend one that is also ok. Register here as these sessions will fill up fast.

All sessions will be held at 12pm in Room 2008 in the Quad building.

Chocolate Mindfulness Meditation – 23 May

What better way to celebrate the Mindful Month of May than with a Chocolate Mindfulness Meditation?

You do not need any previous experience with meditation to take part in this event, just an appetite for trying something new – and eating chocolate!

Safety & Sustainability are supplying the chocolates and the meditation as an audio file. All you need to supply are the team members to take part. The exercise should only take about 10 minutes.

Bookings for the Chocolate Meditation can be made here. Get in quick – we have a limited number of chocolates and expect them to go fast!

Mindfulness Meditation Resources

Each week we will recommend a fantastic resource for people looking to either learn more about mindfulness meditation or enhance their existing skills.

This week we would like to recommend 10% Happier with Dan Harris and Joseph Goldstein. This is a great site for people who are interested in learning about meditation but allergic to woo-woo. Mindfulness meditation is a simple, secular, scientifically validated exercise for your brain. The first seven lessons in this course are free.

What is self-talk?

Did you know that we all engage in self-talk? It can be positive or negative, and have different effects on how you feel. ReachOut has a great resource for developing better self-talk.
