AED
An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device used when Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is suspected. The AED makes a diagnosis and provides useful information and instructions via a synthesized voice or visual prompts.
Based on the condition of the patient an AED will only administer treatment if required. An AED may increase the survival rate of a patient.
To provide the best opportunity for survival the below four steps must be put in to motion within the first few minutes of a suspected SCA.
